Players Required

This coming season we have a new U14 girls team.  The team are looking for players who will be in school years Year 8 or 9 in September.

Please contact Peter Ward on 07973 469585 for details.

Our Academy is where it all begins!  If your child is showing an interest in football at an early age, why not bring them along to St Georges Lower School on a Saturday morning for our trial sessions.  The sessions start at 8.45.

Your child will be coached by FA Qualified coaches and given the very best start to their footballing life.

Chairman's Introduction Season 2016-17

At the Club’s recent AGM, there were a few changes to the committee of the football club. After 5 superb years as Club Chairman, Jake Kirby decided to stand down from the role. In addition, I also stood down from my previous role as Club Secretary to take up the vacated position of Club Chairman.

I would like to officially thank Jake for his work with the Club. He has left the Club in a strong position both on and off of the field. I would also like to welcome to the committee Gary McEvoy, who has taken on the Club Secretary position. Gary is familiar with this role as he has filled this position previously with a senior side. Gary has a child playing in one of our younger sides and has committed his time to help run the Club. Thank you Gary for stepping forward.

On the field, last season was one of great success with both the U14 Lions and U12 Cobras enjoying League Cup success and the First team winning the South Beds Sunday Premier League. Other notable mentions to the U14 Tigers on reaching their League Cup final, U12 Rams who had a wonderful season and very nearly won their league and both the U11 and U9 teams who also reached seasonal league finals.

Naturally our thoughts now drift towards the coming season. After 6/7 years of holding our Subscription fees at £100 for the ‘early bird’ deal, we have taken the decision to increase this by £5. It is our aim to employ a groundsman to help our volunteer managers/coaches with the arduous task of marking of the pitches each and every week and this small increase will hopefully cover the cost of this.

2016/17 season will once again see Toddington Rovers FC providing football for in excess of 200 local children. There will be two new U7 teams who have graduated from our early years Academy and a new U14 Girls team joining our ranks. If your daughter will be in school years 9 or 10 in September and is interested in playing, please contact me.

I will close my introduction with details on the Steve Spillane award. This trophy is awarded annually at the AGM. It is voted for by the committee and is awarded to a person or persons who have made a significant contribution to the Club. I am pleased to inform you that this year’s winner was Fiona Renshaw. Fiona has two sons playing for our Lions team and came forward 4 years ago to take care of the Club’s purchasing activity. This is a mammoth task, making sure that each player has a kit when required, that jackets are ordered, that each team has the correct first aid, balls and other equipment and of course, organising all of the end of season trophies. An awful lot of work goes into this to make the process totally seamless. I would like to offer our sincere thanks to Fiona for all of her hard work.

Finally, I would like to wish you and your children the very best for the coming season. I hope that you all enjoy it. I will try and pop in to see as many teams play as possible throughout the season.

Yours in sport,

Pete Ward
