Sandy 8 Under 10 Bs 1

This won't go down as our season's best performance by a long chalk.
We should have realised we were in for a miserable morning as the
clouds thickened on the long drive to Sandy. Last minute team
changes saw Jamie Be deputise for  Luke R in goal.  The teams looked
equally matched in the first few minutes. Sandy just had a little
bit more sharpness of movement but it was finely balanced. Early
chances fell to Jamie Br, Callum and Luke W, but we didn't really
stretch their keeper. We were quickly punished for giving Sandy too
much time on the ball with two goals conceded in quick succession.
About 15 minutes in to the first half disaster struck. Jamie Be had
to be carried from the pitch after a nasty ankle twist - and the
rain started......

Tim, Callum and then finally Harrison each took turns in goal, but
the balance of the team never returned. A great consolation goal
from Lewis provided some cheer.

Man of the match was Harrison.

Sunday 15th November 2009

A now familiar fixture for the Bs, who have had some very tight
matches against Wilstead previously. The Bs opened the scoring on this
occasion, with Callum smartly putting away a great cross that had been
whipped in by Luke W. Wilstead battled on though, and by half time had
pulled one back. The second half was end to end stuff, with Wilstead
having the better of the shots overall and they ran out eventual 3-1
winners. A match played in great spirit by both teams. Man of the
match: Callum.

Under 10B 0 Bedford Town Eagles 3

A depleted B team played an extremely well organised Eagles side on
Remembrance Sunday. The Eagles are one of the strongest performing
teams in the League this season and this was going to be a tough match
for the Bs, who only had 7 players and no subs.

The Bs held out for much of the first half, finally conceding just
before half time and then again almost immediately after the break.
They kept their heads up though and put in a spirited defensive
display with one or two chances falling their way in the second half.
The Eagles organisation and tidy passing shone through though, and
they scored a third right on full time.

Many thanks to the Eagles who were kind enough to provide a referee
for the match.

The Bs 1 Kempston Colts B 2
This was a very close and hard fought match, staying nil nil at half
time, with both teams having created chances, but neither side
managing to finish cleanly.  The Bs showed some great composure and
there were some super passing moves, but Kempston were first to break
the deadlock with a rebounding ball falling kindly to their striker.
Having taken the lead, Kempston began to apply more pressure. Luke R
was called upon to make a fine stop - tipping a curling free kick just
round the post to keep us in it.  The boys responded well and there
was real determination to get back on level terms.

A rotating formation of Luke W, Lewis and Harrison battled forward,
with Callum in support. Lewis beat players left and right to get a
fabulous shot away on their left flank which drew a fine save from
their keeper. Callum was on hand to mop up the rebound and the game
was level.
Sadly we had little time to regain our composure as Kempston caught us
on the break shortly after the restart and with an efficient piece of
forward play managed to regain the lead.

Man of the Match was Luke R for another fine shot-stopping display.

Bedford Panthers A 8 The Bs 0
A quick check of the form book had revealed that a high scoring
Panthers A Team might be giving us a bit of a defensive workout.

The lads did incredibly well, holding out for a long while before
conceding the first, and went into half time at 3-0 down. Heads were
back up for the second half, and although they conceded another 5 the
game got a lot more open towards the end and there were a few chances
for our lads.

The match was entertaining and played in the best spirit by the boys.

Man of the match was a very hard working Declan.

September 27, 2009

The Bs 1 Wootton Rangers 2

A much tighter game than last week, as it's always typically been
against Wootton, but some lovely passages of play from the lads. Luke
P had a long range shot, Lewis narrowly missed from a cross from a
very tight angle, Callum had a go and eventually it was Luke P again
to put the lads 1-0 up at half time.

Still open for the second half then, and despite several chances for
our lads, and some great play from Luke R, Wootton finally pulled two
back and the lads just missed out on a draw.
Man of the match was Jamie Br.

Houghton Athletic 10 The Bs 0
Not one to remember for the B Team, with the pub adjacent to the pitch
looking seriously inviting to one or two of the parents by the end of
the game. Some good passages of play didn't result in any goals for
us, and a team that more than lived up to their Athletic title took
their chances very well.

A lively encounter saw Joe run out as Man of the Match.

 September 13th, 2009

The Bs 1 Dunstable Icknield 1
A evenly balanced match, with plenty of chances for both sides saw
Callum open the scoring. Dunstable pulled one back before the break,
when a goal line clearance unfortunately hit one of our own players
and bounced back in.

So 1-1 it stayed, and a draw felt like a fair result on our 5th outing
against a team with whom we have had so many tight matches.

Man of the match: Luke W.
