12/9/09 Gt Linford Cobras (away) - Won 5 - 3

A bit of a slow start to the season which was not really surprising as Summer training had not been as consistent as we have managed before. Nevertheless all the boys put in a great deal of effort and we're sure that we can wipe away the cobwebs and get back to our natural passing game fairly soon. We still managed a win against a tenacious Gt Linford side with 2 goals from Tom Kirby and a hat-trick from man-of-the-match Ryan Salisbury. It was great to see all the boys playing a match again and it was also a welcome to our two new recruits, Jack Deakin and Scott Atkinson.

26/9/09 Newport Pagnell Town Tigers (home) - Won 3 - 1

Another solid victory for the boys though they still have yet to find their top form of last season. Excellent displays from Luke Renshaw (1), Connor Williams (1) and James Haxell help us to victory against a good team (with a couple of excellent young players themselves). Ryan Salisbury kept up his scoring ratio with the opener and once again everyone played a part and it was especially pleasing to see them all putting in maximum effort when things weren't going so well. The game was closer than the score suggests and Duncan White made several very good saves as he continues to improve as our goalkeeper. The 100% record is maintained but it will be back to the training ground on Saturday to work on our passing !

17/10/09 MK Wanderers Hawks (away) - Drew 1 - 1

MK managed to snatch a draw with almost the final kick of the game as the lead that the boys had gained disappeared in the blink of an eye. MK had the best of the early few minutes but then the boys began to fight back and some promising attacks on the right wing by Ryan Salisbury were backed up by some strong running from both Connor Williams and Luke Renshaw. Toddington took the lead thanks to a strong corner from Luke Renshaw that the 'keeper failed to hold - one nil to Toddington. The boys continued to press and Ryan Salisbury hot the bar with a thunderous shot and the Wanderers' keeper was also forced into making some very good saves. MK Wanderers never gave up, however, and mounted some strong attacks of thier own but the Toddington defence held strong thanks to some good marshallling from James Haxell and some excellent challenges (including one "unplanned" header !) from man-of-the-match Luke Hicks. Toddington were pushed back in the last few minutes, however, and a goalmouth scramble right at the death produced the equaliser for the home team. Our passing still needs some sharpening up (if only it could be as good as training !) but one can't fault the boys and their team effort continues to be outstanding. It's the big one next week - at home to The Tigers - so expect a sell-out crowd.
